Purchased in 2023 for $25,000, this tiny portable home was delivered on a truck and transformed into a cosy, modern and highly functional short-stay retreat tucked behind the original Ararat renovation project. What started as a very simple little space quickly became one of the most fun and rewarding projects to work on.
The renovation included removing the old kitchenette and outdated vinyl flooring, installing beautiful timber-look floors, repainting throughout in Lexicon White, and adding a brand new IKEA kitchen with a hotplate, oven and rangehood. A new hot water system, toilet and bathroom vanity completely refreshed the space, while soft styling and practical furniture made the tiny home feel warm, inviting and surprisingly spacious.
The result exceeded all expectations. The tiny house was booked on short-stay platforms almost 90% of the time, receiving wonderful reviews from guests who loved the peaceful atmosphere, cosy interiors, firepit area and large secure backyard for their dogs to run around.
By 2025, the tiny home’s estimated value had grown to approximately $45,000, proof that even the smallest spaces can become something really special with the right vision and creativity.
